There's a competition over on Polycount right now, where you have to design and model a weapon for Darksiders2, which you can find HERE if you want more info. The basic premise is that you have to create either a mace, axe or hammer in the style of Darksiders. I'm entering it, really just for practice/portfolio filler, but I would really appreciate some feedback!! Even if you just tell me what designs you like best, or really don't like, it would be a huge help to me. And don't worry if you don't think you have an artistic eye or anything, this is for a game, so all I really need are GAMER'S opinions, not artists lol.

I love everything, I think 7 is my least fave.
design 2, 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, 10, 11 & 12 have the most unique quality, and they have more potential to be further developed and personalized. I don't really see how you can go wrong, you have a great eye for design I would just say find a good theme then add the "functionality" aspect of the weapon. and keep editing without over editing. So I've been working on this on and off...very slowly but I'm getting there haha. I dunno if anyone's interested, but I'll update this thread anyway for my own personal pleasure


I started making number 2, but I figured it's going to take longer than 15 days to model and texture...all that detail would kill me >_< I might come back to it after the competition, since I already have the base down lol.

Then I started working on number 1 as a break from number 2, and I got carried away...THEN I decided it wasn't all that interesting, and the design wasn't solid enough. Here's how far I got with that (I apologise for the crappy lighting, my monitor doesn't show colours properly...so I have to render it out, then transfer it to my mac to check the colours, and I'm too lazy to do that =___= )





So I finally decided to do number 4! This is just a first pass and yes, I am going to fix the skull. I changed the design slightly, since we're limited on how many tris we're allowed to use, and it would use up too many.





ANY crit would be greatly appreciated, feel free to rip into me! I want this to be as good as possible lol.
