| Hi guys its 2:20 am here in nyc So i just woke up from a nightmare i was trying to escape a flood in my dream.. Only to wake up with another horrible nightmare. I hear someone groaning outside my window, i look down and i see a guy getting mugged. :/ 2 guys had him up against a tree, helpless. I wanted to open my window and yell at the guys but they might remember my address and target me and my family. I just wanna cry right now, 2 of my siblings were mugged before, sure you forget it overtime and just be thankful they're alive and i sympathize for people who had been victims or know someone. But its different when you watch someone being commited a crime on at th exact moment. After, 2 guys walk away, got what they came for and the victim looked injured, pleads for his phone. But they all disappear in my line of sight. Even though i shouldve gone down and assissted him. The bottom line is, be safe. Don't go home late alone, don't wear your headphones at night or display gadgets in suspicious areas. The world is dangerous and some of us are its victims. This is a life changing experience for me thats why i feel the need to just let it out right away. human violence is like my worst fear too, its just disgusting.

Omg Mono, that must have been so scary It's one of those things that you think will NEVER happen to you, but if it does, you can't help but think "why didn't I do this, why did I do that". I hope the guy was okay and not badly injured

I hope so too, it's very psychologically damaging to witness a crime. that's why I probably went out of my way to type all this.

Aww, mono. *hugs* I think you made the right choice not yelling at them. I wouldn't put my family in danger either.

such a dangerous world. If the victem was a girl it probably have been worse. The violence has gotten so bad people are afraid to assist in any way. calling police makes you a witness and thus you have to testify in court so your identity is no secret. stay safe mono, hopefully you have that window of your locked, because for some reason hear in Florida people love leaving their door, garage, and widows open any time of day knowing the predators out there.

I think because of our justice system, it's extremely troublesome to do the right thing. If you call and become a witness, you'd have to leave school/your job for a few weeks to testify in court. >_> I once called 311 to report a fire hydrant that was leaking. They transferred me around, didn't know who to tell to fix the problem, and charged me $4 for the calls.

Awwh Mono, I hope you're better now. I'm sorry to hear that... hopefully the man has gotten help now and is doing better. You did good by protecting your family. The USA is a very nice, and considerably safe place compared to others. However, Americans get too confident at times thinking they are safe and crimes like this happens. Just remember there are still people out their with malicious intents, no matter how safe the place you're in typically is. And this applies to all countries, really. And, sadly, the US legal system is so messed up. I get so frustrated in Civics just because some of the laws and orders are just do dumb and illogical. If the person is obviously guilty, why prove him innocent? If the person confessed, why are you going to let him free just because you didn't tell him something? Even though it was a right... he still confessed dammit. @Althena - omg. I know right. Again, they get too confident, though I don't know how since Florida is pretty dangerous alone. But then again, Venezuela is even more dangerous, and every single house has all their windows and doors open. People...
