this website will tell you the optimal time for you to fall asleep (based on when you want to wake up) so that when you do wake up, it's not in the middle of a sleep cycle. allegedly, if you wake up in the middle of a sleep cycle you will feel tired/groggy/not well rested.

just tell it the time you want to wake up, and it will give you like 5 optimal times to wake up.

i put in 9:00am, and it told me to sleep at: 12:00 AM or 1:30 AM or 3:00 AM or 4:30 AM

i don't think they consider how many total hours you want to sleep, they just give you a time that won't be in the middle of a sleep cycle Sleep Cycle Calculator 277951

The time I want to wake up is 6:15 but the latest I can sleep is 1:45

for me on work days it says I should sleep at:
3:45 AM or 5:15 AM or 6:45 AM or 8:15 AM

thats because the first sleep cycle is always longer than the subsequent ones. this site won't show you any later time than 1:45am for a 6am wakeup, because they're only showing you the time needed to complete at least the first cycle.

subsequent sleep cycles get shorter and shorter. thats also why sometimes if you wake up in the middle of a later sleep cycle, you might be able to remember clips of many dreams Sleep Cycle Calculator 33612
