| WTF. And seriously, the comments under that post are f'ing stupid. These people and their "followers" are jackasses. And really, I prefer to feel safe and be overly protected by Sony than to be hacked. |

| If sony wanted to protect us, they would have fixed FP so our ps3s don't die. |

| It's true that a large number of people who are involved with this are either having a kneejerk reaction to him getting sued or they're just getting their jollies off. However, it's about a bit more than that. A lot of people think that Sony is overreaching its influence on its products and that consumers should have more control over what they buy. Cases like this can also set a precedence on future cases. If this ends up backfiring on Sony, other corporations might think twice before pulling stuff like this in the future. |

| hm, anyone correct me if I'm wrong, but in a nutshell sony is pissed cuz geohot "hacked" or "unlocked" the ps3. (he is the guy who first unlocked the iPhone too).
by unlocking the ps3 you can play what they call "homebrew" games. these are fanmade games that you play on your system. but you could also play pirated games. his hack revealed the "root key" which is the digital signature the ps3 uses to verify a game is legitimate. with this key, pirates can trick the ps3 into thinking a game is authentic and trick the ps3 into playing it.
at least, that's my understanding.
anyway, hackers consider Sony infringing on their freedom to share information which they view as free and belonging to everyone. ostensibly they contend they just wanted to play homebrew games (geohots demo shows him playing a homebrew game, not a pirated game) and that Sony cannot dictate how they use their ps3s. because Sony is suing him, and maybe going after anyone who looked at his site or sent him money via paypall, they are pissed. |

| Ohh I see, I understand now. Either way though, after "homebrew" games, all those people are going to sneak in pirated games. Check this thread out to see other point's of view - http://cakelair.net/topic/5911-psn-and-playstationcom-hacked/Though I see what Manit means, maybe it's best to be like this toward hackers.. |
